Observational studies contribute vital information towards our understanding of a disease and its treatment. Well-designed case-control, cohort, cross-sectional and longtitudinal studies can answer important research questions that may lead to changes in treatment practice and recommendations.
POPPY is an observational study being undertaken by ICTU which is exploring the health of people aged 50 and over, with and without HIV. This cohort study aims to characterise the incidence and nature of co-morbidities in HIV and includes an MRI substudy to compare whether brain health over time differs between people with and without HIV.
ICTU has strong epdemiological expertise and can support Sponsors on the design and execution of observational studies in any disease area. Search ICTU portfolio for more details about POPPY and other current observational studies the unit is currently involved in.
